Pierre Bonnard (1867-1947) was a French painter and a founding member of Les Nabis. He is loved for his intimate domestic scenes and gardens, painted in shimmering, richly worked colour. Bonnard watched daily life closely: a table set with fruit, a figure at a mirror, light falling through a window. From that quiet attention he built some of the warmest paintings of his century.
