Dante Gabriel Rossetti (1828-1882) was an English poet and painter. He was a founder of the Pre-Raphaelite Brotherhood. Rossetti is celebrated for his richly coloured, romantic portraits of women drawn from literature and myth. His paintings and his verse fed each other, and both leaned towards beauty, longing and legend.
