Auguste Rodin

Auguste Rodin (1840–1917) was French, and the sculptor who broke the academic mould with The Age of Bronze, The Thinker and The Kiss. He was rejected three times by the École des Beaux-Arts. Drawing stayed central to his practice throughout. In later years he worked from models moving freely around the studio, keeping his eyes on the figure while the pencil ran across the paper. He died at Meudon, outside Paris.

The Auguste Rodin Collection at BestOfBharat

The range covers Rodin on paper: figure studies in graphite and watercolour wash, the dance sheets connected to Loie Fuller, and the Minerva head. Palette is restrained, mostly beige, blue and bare paper. Line does the work. Nothing here is heavy. The mood is quick and observational. Several pieces are untitled studies, which is how Rodin left much of this material.

Auguste Rodin in Your Space

Drawings ask for breathing room. Hang one large sheet alone on a pale wall, or run three small studies in a tight row above a console. The soft beige and blue tones suit bedrooms, dressing rooms and quiet corners of a living room. A slim black frame with a wide mount sharpens the line; a raw oak frame softens it. These works pair well with plain modern furniture and with other line-led art, and they hold their own beside photography.

Every artwork here is an archival print, hand-framed to order and delivered ready to hang — made in India.
